About Company

Heart and Spirit started out at the Bujinkan Kokoro Dojo in 1995. Initially set up to teach the art of Budo Taijutsu. In the year 2000 we moved into a full time premises in Dewsbury, and started also teaching Children's classes after request from some of our adult students. In 2005 we became a full time academy and incorporated Taekwondo and Kickboxing into our schedule and changed the name of the club to Kokoro Academy of Martial Arts. The Kokoro Academy of Martial Arts is still our primary brand teaching Martial Arts and Self Defence to the Dewsbury and Ilkley location. In 2020 we were proud to be awarded the Prestige Martial Arts Self Defence Centre of the year for West Yorkshire. In 2014 we purchased another academy located in Ilkley, and we incorporated our Budo Taijutsu classes into the existing Taekwondo and Kickboxing schedule. In 2021 during the Covid Pandemic we also incorporated other businesses into the existing academies. They are Kokoro World Travel Heart and Spirit Hear and Spirit Forever The last two incorporate health products as well as beauty products.
